After hiking at Catalina State Park my husband, sister and myself ate at the Hitchin Post. I had the pot roast special. The meat was very tender and good and the vegetables (potatoes and carrots) were not overdone, however the gravy was canned and did not add to the meal. I would not order again. My husband had the pastrami with cheese and my sister the Reuben and they thought they were fine. The coleslaw lacked flavor and was not considered tasty. We would return and try some other dishes as we liked the atmosphere and the waitress. |

Tried the earlybird specials at $6.99: Clam chowder, Liver and Onions with roasted potatoes, and salad and Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes. Liver was good, chicken strips were tasty but tough, roasted potatoes were a bit dry, mashed potatoes were lumpy like last night's left-over baked potatoes and lacked flavor, bleu cheese dressing was good, clam chowder was salty. Would prefer real butter instead of margarine for the rolls which were nice and soft but did not have much flavor. Would liked to have had water automatically served beside our lemonade. |
