Aug 28th, 2005 |
I visited with a group of friends in January of 2005. The service and food were sorry, and that is from someone who had low expectations to start with, what do you expect in a town full of ski bums? But this was just plain bad.
We were able to tolerate the bad food and horrible service until the end of our meal when we asked for our checks to be split. At that point our waiter pitched a fit unlike any that I have ever seen in a restaurant setting before.
This is the type of restaurant that if it was located in your hometown, you would eat there once and never again.
But sometimes you return to bad restaurants because you like the atmosphere or the service, even though the food is bad, but not in this case. The service is worse than I have ever had at any establishment. I would rather go to the dentist, or sit in coach on a plain full of screaming babies that is delayed on the runway by bad weather, than to eat at Kenosha.
If Kenosha was the only restaurant in Breckenridge, then I would never ski there again. |

First, I don't know whether Kenosha Steak House is in compliance with health codes. Not only was there no soap in the men's restroom (as of our visit on Wed. July 27 2005), there was no soap dispenser. Is this where kitchen employees relieve themselves - with no proper hand-washing facilities? Also, the cloth napkins had slices in them.
If only we had recognized these things before eating we could have saved ourselves a bad dining experience. I had BBQ beef which came out cold and tough. My wife got a NY Strip steak that was all gristle; she bent her fork trying to cut it.
Finally, our waiter was unprofessional. My wife has an allergy to wheat, so she asked if their french fries were floured (some restaurants do this to make them crisper). Without bothering to check, the waiter said they were not, but sure enough they were. |
