I went to the Diamond Steakhouse several times over the years, but I am afraid I won't be returning.
Before there was a sense of quality, of pride in what was prepared, and of pride in how it was served to the customer.
Now, the owner, the man who made it all happen, has passed (in January). And the legacy he left has more holes in it than a whiffle ball.
The food took an extremely long time to arrive, was not prepared the way we asked it to be (rare), and was reprepared the same incorrect way the second time.
The service was poor, with some southern gentleman as our host whose name escapes me, and a server who looked like he would rather be watching the Avalanche game than taking care of our table.
The wine was of quality, but overpriced, and the selection was limited to bottles of such high cost that dessert was skipped altogether.
I like a good steak, but I like it prepared the way I want it, which, sorrowfully is not the way the Diamond Steakhouse does business anymore.
I will not be returning. |
