Beautiful Route 200 location right on the Withlacoochie River at the Citrus County line. Highly popular restaurant featuring seafood (catfish!) and steaks.

We were staying at the Hilton Hotel in Dec. and I asked a local where a good place to eat is and he recommended Stumpknockers, and it was great! I had the frog legs. It was a lot better than the ones I eat in Louisiana a few days before visiting family. We hope to come eat there sometime again soon. |

AS A DEVOTED STUMPKNOCKERS PATRON FOR NEAR 15 YEARS, I CAN SAY THAT THIS FINE LITTLE RESTAURANT HAS ONLY IMPROVED WITH AGE. TIM, SHANE AND THE ENTIRE STAFF OF EMPLOYEES, ARE SOME OF THE FINEST PEOPLE ON THE RIVER. AND LET'S NOT FORGET TIM'S MOM, WHO MAKES THOSE INCREDIBLE PIES!
IF TIM SERVED BREAKFASTS, I WOULD EAT FRIED CATFISH ALL DAY LONG!!!! |

Mississippi and Alabama claim catfish as their own "invention"...neither holds a candle to Stumpknockers. Absolutely the best catfish I've ever tasted. |

Reknown locally for the best catfish in the area, although I've never gotten that far on the menu. Starting with the appetizers I can never pass up the alligator . . . prepared perfectly.
The most popular entrees are the catfish and alligator steaks. I personally prefer the crabmeat stuffed flounder or the weekend prime rib while my wife never misses the fried oysters when in season.
Tim Channel owns the place which is right on the lazy (and typical Florida)river where Captain Mike runs sightseeing excursions upon request. Tim's Mom makes the pecan pie . . . one of the best short of Stuckey's. |
