Located in the heart of Hessville, near the major intersection of Kennedy Ave and E. 165th St. This is a popular restaurant attracting patrons from both the Chicago area and the Gary, IN metro area. Freddy's Steak house was voted best steakhouse by a local entertainment magazine readers poll. Prices at Freddy's have increased as have beef prices overall following tighter restrictions on imported beef. Rick Matson is the owner/manager of this steakhouse which is named after Rick's father Fred Matson, the founder of the restaurant.

At first I was a little overcome by the Nordic decor and prices on the menu. But after we ordered and waited a little while for our food to come, we were all shocked at the portions. The catfish was an entire catfish and the small Freddy's steak special was 14 oz., both delicious. So, overall the meal was well worth the price. |
