Our family visited Tumbleweed in Terre Haute almost every visit through the are when it first opened. Friendly wait staff, complimentary nachos while waiting for your meal, and a nice atmosphere made it special. The buffalo steak and burgers not available locally except for this stop made it a better consideration for a lunch and supper. Located by Graham Grain, it was easily found by looking for the tall elevator nearby. Plenty of parking, but sometimes a long wait was still worthwhile.
Then the resturant began to slip, you now have to request nacho chips, they are no longer brought with a smile and a pleasant word. The buffalo was even sold out at one visit, prompting one of our party to refuse to eat rather than accept a substitute.
Now the overpriced resturant is no longer a favorite with our family, we no longer visit. It is not a bad place to eat, but Terre Haute offers so many other better places, why suffer the slow and inconsiderate service? It is hard to beat the #1 steak house in town, Outback Steakhouse, or the Roadhouse steakhouse close to I-70. Not to mention many others that have outclassed this place which obviously has changed management for the worse. We still give it a 3 stars on a scale of 5, still not bad, but not the best in town. |
