I've read these reviews and I think and believe that if you go into a restaurant, any restaurant, with a good attitude you will enjoy your meal that much more. You must remember that no one is perfect. Sure, mistakes are made. You show me a person that doesn't ever make a mistake, and I'll show you a person that doesn't do anything.
Go in a restaurant with a good attitude, a smile on your face and a nice hello and you are off to a good start.
Just remember "it doesn't hurt to be nice".
Yes, I've been to the Hilltop a number of times and I think in general everyone is pleasant, friendly and easy to get along with. And yes, sometimes the food doesn't always come out exactly right. Just smile and ask your waitstaff to correct the problem. No big deal. |

We've been dining at the Hilltop since it opened. Never again. The food is overpriced and undercooked. My wife ordered a filet and was served prime rib which we sent back. When the filet was served it was inedible, i.e. raw! The waitress did not return for 15 minutes to ask how the meal was. The waitress was apologetic but my wife went without her meal. At one time the hostesses were appropriately dressed for a fine restaurant. Yesterday the hostess had on jeans and a teeshirt with a set of keys on a plastic ring wrapped arond her upper arm. I thought she was a matron in a womans prison!
A great restaurant that has senn better days! |

I was at this restaurant today (04/03/04), dropped in for lunch. My meal was sent back after she ordered me the wrong main course. Then I sat there for another 20 minutes coffee, water empty. Then finally my main dish came, still no refills on drinks and did not receive my side dish. I asked for the check because I needed to get to the airport. Never was asked how was the food. Got me for almost $30.00. |

I have been patronizing the Hilltop since the late '60's. Back in those days, you had to step over a bunch of draft-dodging hippies just to get a seat. Back in those days cows were bigger, steaks were juicier, the waitresses thinner and the sky bluer. These days, the steaks are smaller with far less juice. The salads are warm and the dressing is bland. All in all, pretty much what you would expect considering the draft dodging hippies are gone. |

I have been dining in Hilltop steak house for so many years, it's hard to count them. Hilltop S/H used to be much busier and the food was more consistently good than the present time. We dine there at least once a week. Last week we ordered fish, and it was almost undercooked and almost raw, and we had to give it back. Previous to that, I ordered filet mignon cooked medium, and it was way overcooked like well done. I dined there today and the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were undercooked, but I finished them anyway. In my estimation, the best thing about Hilltop is their large, cold and fresh salads and especially their house salad dressing. |

The waitress was very nice and friendly, the food was undercooked and took a while to come back, the waitress was embarassed yet we told her she does not cook the food, the manager should make sure it is cooked promptly. |
