A week before our visit we called to ensure that we would receive the two-person dinner promotion. This promotion was for a two person dinner which included an appetizer, main course and dessert for a discounted price.
We were seated at our table after waiting in the lobby for 15 minutes. After we were seated we waited another 10 minutes for our server to greet us. When our server finally made it to our table we ordered our drinks and tried to order the appetizer that was supposed to come with our meals. The server explained to us that we would not be able to have the promotional meal without a coupon. We explained to her that we had called and that we were assured that did not need a coupon. She rudely stated that we could not have the deal and that we should pick something else out and then walked away.
Our server did not return with our drinks until 15 minutes later. When she handed out the drinks she spilled my cherry coke all over my lap. My leather jacket and my skirt were both affected by the spill. She didn't say anything and left the table. She returned 10 minutes later with [a manager] at her side. [The manager] presented me with [a] business card and told me to send the bill for the dry cleaning of my skirt and leather jacket [to the restaurant].
It took another 20 minutes to get our meal and the server never approached our table to see how our food was or to refill our drinks. After we completed our meal two other couples sat down at the table next to us. Our server greeted them and then offered them a coupon so they could get the promotional two-person meal that we tried to have. I could not believe it!
To sum it up my guests and I received very horrible service. After serving for over 5 years, I believe that I know bad service when I see it. Also, if you have a policy your servers should enforce it all times, not just when they feel like it. Our bill was over $80.00 and we did not receive any discount on our dinner. I have never had such terrible service in a restaurant. |

I went to the Bloomington location on 07-19-01 with a friend to try Cattle Company as I have never eaten there before. After getting there I realized what a mistake it was. We went up to the podium and were advised that there would be a mininum of a 20-25 minute wait for a table. We counted 9 empty tables within view of the front door.
We then sat down after waiting the full 20 minutes, and the waitress appeared like she really didn't like her job and was extremely rushed. We both placed our order for the combination platter, 5 oz sirloin, 3 1/2 oz lobster tail, and 12 breaded shrimp. We received our salad on time, but that was the only part of the meal that wasn't screwed up.
When the entree arrived, I was astonished to see how the meal was presented. The lobster had fallen off the shell, and was mixed in with the shrimp. It almost appeared like the waitress literally ran out of the kitchen with the meal. The shrimp was so greasy, the grease literally dripped off of it when held in the air. The lobster was so overcooked that it had the consistency of silly putty. The lobster also had an extremely fishy taste.
I was looking forward to the "top sirloin" to be satisfactory, but again, I was disappointed. Although done medium, which was to my satisfaction, the meat was extremely fatty. Rather odd for "top sirloin". I then figured how could they screw up a potato? Well, the baked potato was almost raw in the middle. Both me and my friend ordered sour cream, and none was to be found.
When we complained, the waitress seemed rather disinterested. When we paid our bill, I made my comments known in writing on the sales receipt. From this experience, I would never recommend Stewart Anderson's Cattle Company to anyone. |
