I have eaten at the Chimneys many times and have found it to be consistently good. The restaurant is located across from Gulfport harbor in an antebellum mansion which was renovated by the owners. Ask to be seated on the glassed porch overlooking the front yard and, beyond that, the harbor. On cool evenings my wife and I have had cocktails outside on the deck.
Obviously the specialty is seafood. I have never gone away hungry. The seafood gumbo is a fine appetizer. The soft shell crab (seasonal) is worth the trip. Another entree, the Trout 1640, is excellent also and very filling. On the lighter side, the grilled shrimp salad is good. My all-time favorite, however, is the fried shrimp.
It is very important to call ahead for reservations. |
