Superb beef, ribs and chicken. Beats anything we've eaten in and out of Oklahoma (yes, Texas & California included) --at the price range of 12 to 15 dollars. True, selection is limited: Steaks, ribs, chicken, brisket and prime rib. Included in price is small salad bar, side of one potato or another. Included table appetizer is small rib order and some bread. (Makes you wonder if you shouldn't change your order to ribs!) Prime rib and sirloin steaks are fantastic. Everything is gently smoked, no overbearing "sauces" on foods, no "formed" beef of any sort here. Very clean restaurant area, very simple decor, nothing fancy (by ANY means!!) Just great food at a low price. Drinks are also simple: No alcohol, pop or iced tea. Service is great: Just don't expect white linened waiters and a maitre'd. |

The restaurant is attached to a service station and has a nice, small-town feel. Ken employs most of the town I'd guess and the restaurant is only open Thursday and Friday nights and Saturdays (early afternoons I think...) Arrive early unless you want to wait in a very long line. Expect to pay $15-20 per person for a full meal.
You start with the salad bar which good, but not outstanding. Of course, cutting your own cheese from the block is interesting and different. After the salad, everyone gets a rib "on the house" to see if that's what you want (other options include chicken and steak.)
I took the ribs (the smaller size - 4 or 5 ribs) and a baked potato. I was not disappointed. I consider the quality of ribs to be nearly equal to Rendezvous in Memphis. Furthermore, these guys cut the ribs the right way: cut along the bone, not in between.
Amber, OK is a 2.5 hour drive from here and I'll be going back soon. |
